Week 2 Holiday Treats: Chocolate Covered Pretzels

The next few weeks will be very busy for most of us with shopping, decorating and cooking. This treat is quick and easy with only a few ingredients making it perfect for work parties, homemade gifts and as a filler on cookie platters.

You will need:

  • 1 16 ounce package candy coating: either chocolate or white or both
  • 1 bag of pretzels any shape
  • Wax paper
  • Optional: decorative sprinkles, frostings
  • Makes about 4 dozen

1. Following the directions on the package, melt 1/2 of the candy coating.

2. Lay out a piece of wax paper.

3. Working quickly before coating hardens: dip pretzels in coating to cover and place on wax paper.

4 If adding sprinkles, add them while pretzels are still wet.

5. If adding frosting (I used a squeeze cookie decorating frosting) add after pretzels have set. You can also use white coating to decorate chocolate pretzels and chocolate to decorate white pretzels.

6. Pretzels will set fairly quickly.

7. Repeat process with second half of coating.

Total time: about 1 hour.
